The final Big West championship of the year concludes this weekend with the Big West Track & Field Championships Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at UC Irvine. In addition, men's and women's tennis begin NCAA Championships play on Friday and Saturday, while the final weekend of softball regular-season play is here, with Pacific (14-4) and Long Beach State (13-5) battling it out for the Big West crown in their final series of the year.
Baseball
Cal State Fullerton holds the top spot in the Big West Conference race at 14-4, followed by UC Irvine (10-5) in second and Cal Poly (10-8) in third. Long Beach State and UC Davis find themselves knotted in fourth at 8-7.
For the sixth year in a row, select games will be broadcast by the institutions on BigWest.TV, the conference's video streaming initiative in partnership with CBS College Sports.

Softball
The Big West softball champion will be crowned this weekend and the Pacific Tigers are in the driver’s seat with a one game lead over Long Beach State for the 2011 title.
The Tigers will be in the Central Coast against Cal Poly this weekend, seeking the first Big West title in program history. Meanwhile, LBSU will be keeping a close eye on the scoreboard as travels to UC Riverside hoping to leapfrog the Tigers.
Cal State Fullerton can also get a piece of the title with some outside help. The Titans are hosting Cal State Northridge in both clubs’ regular season finale.

Tennis
The Big West will be represented by two schools in the NCAA Tennis Championships as UC Irvine and Cal Poly earned slots in the men's field while Long Beach State and Cal Poly were placed into the women's bracket.
This is the first time since 2000 that the Big West captured multiple bids to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. The Big West sent three teams - Boise State, New Mexico State and Pacific - to the postseason that year.
On the women's side, the Big West is sending two teams to the postseason for the first time since 2007. Big West champion Long Beach State and at-large selection Cal Poly carry the conference banner into competition next week.

Track & Field
The 2011 Big West Track & Field Championships conclude this weekend at UC Irvine with the individual and team events scheduled for Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Cal State Northridge's Sherrina Lofton and Long Beach State's Nicholas Armstrong captured the first Big West titles of the championships last weekend, winning the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively. Cal State Northridge are the defending men's and women's team champions.

Women's Water Polo
Big West champion UC Irvine received the fifth seed in the 2011 NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championship, which will be held May 13-15 at the Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Anteaters play fourth-seeded USC on Friday, May 13 at 4:30 p.m. (PDT).
UCI gained the Big West Conference’s automatic bid to the eight-team tournament field. It is the first season that the Big West has been eligible to receive an automatic berth. The tournament is single-elimination with a loser’s bracket to determine third through eighth place. Each team will play one match all three days.
