Big West play is in full swing with six weeks to the 2011 ampm Big West Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at Honda Center! Both races are tight, as teams complete their first go-round through the standings. Meanwhile, spring sports are in action, with tennis and women's water polo entering their second weeks of play.
Men's Basketball
Pacific is among a logjam of five teams tied for third place and in the chase for the top spot inhabited by Long Beach State. The Tigers host the 49ers in a key conference matchup on Wednesday as head coach Bob Thomason enters the week just two wins shy of career No. 400 at Pacific.
For the sixth year in a row, all home and conference games will be broadcast by the institutions on BigWest.TV, the conference's video streaming initiative in partnership with CBS College Sports.

Women's Basketball
Another week, another perfect outing by the Cal Poly Mustangs, who have strung together a conference-best seven straight league victories to maintain sole possession of first place in the Big West Conference. Cal Poly is off to its best start in the Big West since it joined the conference for the 1996-97 season.
While the Mustangs own the top spot with a perfect 7-0 mark, defending champion UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara are tied for second with a 4-2 record.

Tennis
An early men's tennis conference match is on this week's docket as Pacific travels to UC Davis, while Cal Poly highlights action on the women's side with a trip Palo Alto for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend vs. No. 1 Stanford and No. 29 UNLV.
The 2011 Big West Men's and Women's Tennis Championships are a scant three months away a Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California, April 28 through May 2.

Women's Water Polo
Four Big West schools compete in the UCSB Winter Invite or Spartan Invitational as the women's water polo season warms up. Defending conference tournament champion UC Irvine, ranked No. 10 nationally, is one of nine squads competing in the Winter Invite.
UC Santa Barbara will be the host institution for the 2011 Big West Women's Water Polo Championships April 29 through May 2.
