A total of 113 student-athletes from nine member institutions were honored on the 2010 Big West Conference Fall All-Academic team today for the sports of women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s cross country. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
Women's soccer led all sports with 41 student-athletes and women's cross country had 30 recognized. Seventeen women's volleyball student-athletes earned all-academic accolades. Men's cross country and men's soccer accumulated 15 and 10 all-academic honorees, respectively.
UC Irvine led all Big West schools with 20 Fall All-Academic citations, followed by Cal State Northridge with 17. UC Santa Barbara had 16 all-academic representatives, while UC Davis contributed 13 and Cal Poly, UC Riverside and Pacific earned 11 apiece. Long Beach State placed nine student-athletes on the team and Cal State Fullerton five.
