Things get underway on Wednesday with what are sure to be three hotly contested matches. League-leading teams UC Irvine and Cal State Northridge will hit the road, with the nationally-ranked Anteaters visiting UC Davis and the Matadors heading to Cal Poly. The Anteaters and Aggies will play UC Davis' first regular-season match at Aggie Stadium, the first of four Big West contests to be hosted at the Ags' football stadium.
Despite the new venue for UC Davis and UC Irvine, the match of the night on Wednesday might just be the rematch of last Wednesday's conference opener between Cal State Fullerton and pre-season Big West favorite UC Santa Barbara. The Titans ended a 6-year, 11-match losing streak to the Gauchos to open the season, with a 1-0 overtime victory at Titan Stadium. Wednesday's match will be in Santa Barbara, where the Gauchos have pulled in over 24,000 fans in their last two matches.
Big West play continues Saturday as UC Irvine and Cal State Northridge return home and swap opponents, while Cal State Fullerton travels to Riverside to face the Highlanders.
