Non-conference play continues in soccer and volleyball as the specter of Big West play looms near. Challenging road matches are in store this week in all three sports, with plenty more Top-25 opponents on the docket.
Men's Soccer
Twelve matches make up the Big West schedule this week, with UC Riverside first on the pitch Monday night in their 2010 home debut, when they will face Biola. The Highlanders will finish their week of competition early as well, hosting Cal State Bakersfield Thursday night. The matches are the first of four home contests in a row for UCR.
The only other home contest this week is hosted by the Cal Poly Mustangs, who welcome Top-25 side UCLA to Alex G. Spanos Stadium on Friday. The Bruins, however, will not be the only nationally-ranked opponent the Big West faces this week. UC Santa Barbara has a date with Harvard at the Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico Friday and Cal State Northridge will square off against No. 1 Akron in the University of Akron Tournament in Akron, Ohio.

Women's Soccer
A mix of home and away matches are on tap for the Big West, with sixteen contests scheduled for the weekend. Cal State Northridge, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara return home Friday to face Penn, Portland State and Weber State, respectively. On the road Friday, Cal State Fullerton heads to Nebraska to face the Huskers, Long Beach State and UC Davis will be in Las Vegas at the UNLV Rebel Classic, and UC Irvine takes on Fresno State.
All nine teams are in action Sunday, with a pair of matches against nationally-ranked teams highlighting the schedule. Pacific faces its third ranked opponent in three games when they travel to Berkeley to challenge Cal as Cal State Northridge sets out for College Station, Texas for a date with Texas A&M. Meanwhile, Cal Poly, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara will be hosting home contests.

Big West play looms near as teams see their final few non-conference matches this week. Things get started early, with Cal State Northridge, UC Davis and UC Irvine making their home debuts on Tuesday. The Matadors and Anteaters will face Top-25 squads UCLA and San Diego while the Aggies meet Causeway Cup rival Sacramento State.
In weekend home action, Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis and UC Irvine host event with all home matches to be broadcast on BigWest.TV. The Titans will host the Fullerton Classic, including a Big West-Big East showdown with West Virginia, the Aggies meet Oregon State as part of the Aggie Invitational, and UC Irvine will be the second Big West team to see UCLA this week as part of the Asics Classic.
As a bonus for fans, all matches from Northridge, Davis and Irvine will be FREE OF CHARGE this week.
