CSUN's Delio Receives All-America Honorable Mention Honors

6/9/2010

A week after receiving PING All-West Region honors, Cal State Northridge junior Nick Delio (Valencia, Calif./Saugus HS) was named to the PING All-America Honorable Mention team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He joins fellow Big West golfer John Chin, who collected UC Irvine's first men's golf PING First Team All-America accolade in the university's 33-year NCAA Division I history on June 3.

Delio earned All-Big West First Team honors for the third straight year after pacing the Matadors with a 71.48 stroke average. In his three year-career as a Matador, Delio has posted the top three scoring averages in school history. As a freshman in 2008 he averaged 71.94 strokes as a freshman and followed that up with a 72.40 stroke average as a sophomore in 2009. In 2010, Delio capped his junior season with a stroke average of 71.7, which is currently the school's lowest stroke average.

Delio, competing as an individual, claimed individual medalist honors at the 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional to advance to the NCAA Championship. He concluded the NCAA Championship at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn., tied for 103rd with a nine over-par 225.
