UC Irvine senior John Chin (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley HS) and Cal State Northridge junior Nick Delio (Valencia, Calif./Saugus HS) were tabbed PING All-West Region members, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This is the third consecutive season Chin has been an all-west region selection, while Delio collects the first of his career.
The three-time Big West Golfer of the Year, collected his third award in 2010 after leading the Anteaters with a 70.05 average and 11 top-10 finishes (eight top-5's). Chin finished first in four tournaments, including winning his second Big West individual title. He currently ranks No. 1 in the Golfstat Cup and is second in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings and is scheduled to compete for the United States in the Palmer Cup at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Portrush, Northern Ireland, June 24-26.
Delio earned All-Big West First Team honors for the third straight year after pacing the Matadors with a 71.48 stroke average. If he maintains the aforementioned average throughout the postseason, he will have set a new Northridge single-season record. He already owns the top two scoring averages after averaging 71.94 strokes as a freshman in 2008 and averaging 72.40 as a sophomore in 2009. Delio, competing as an individual, claimed individual medalist honors at the 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional to advance to the NCAA Championship. He currently sits tied for 133rd as he enters the third round of the Championship today at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
