The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee announced the 16 regional sites for the 64th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship and Big West Conference Champion Cal State Fullerton was selected to host its ninth regional at Goodwin Field. The Titans are participating in the postseason for the 19th straight time and 32nd time in 36 years at the Division I level.
Cal State Fullerton owns an impressive 26-6 record when playing in front of its home crowd during regional competition. During the 2010 campaign, the Titans tallied a 19-8 record at Goodwin Field, with four of their losses coming against Top 15 teams.
The 16 regional sites are as follows: Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Cal State Fullerton, Coastal Carolina, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, TCU, UCLA and Virginia. Each regional field features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June 4, to Monday, June 7.
The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced at 9:30 Pacific time, Monday, May 31, during a live program on ESPN. The committee will set the entire 64-team bracket through both the super regionals and the first round of the Men's College World Series and will not reseed the field after play begins. Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on www.ncaasports.com, Monday, June 7 at approximately 8 p.m. (PDT).
Thirty Division I conferences receive an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 34 at-large selections. The 64th Men's College World Series begins play Saturday, June 19 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.
