Titans Complete Sweep with a Pair of Wins on Sunday

Cal State Fullerton completed a Big West Conference series sweep of UC Riverside with 9-1, and 6-0 wins on Sunday. The Titans improved to 30-14 on the year and picked up their eighth consecutive series win and their fourth via the sweep.

Pacific Sweeps First Road Conference Series Since 2001, 11-7

Senior RHP Jake Hummel (Peoria, Ariz.) went the distance with 88 pitches through eight innings and despite trailing UC Davis early in the game was able to top the Aggies to give the Pacific baseball team an 11-7 victory on Sunday, May 8. The Tigers' sweep on the road is the first since 2001, when Pacific swept UC Riverside in Big West play.

Jeff Cusick and Francis Larson combined for 14 RBI to lead UC Irvine to an 18-13 win over Cal Poly to clinch the series Sunday at Baggett Stadium. The win lifted UCI to 29-16 and kept the Anteaters in second in the Big West at 10-5 while Cal Poly dropped to 14-29 (6-12 Big West) overall.

Long Beach State turned three second-inning walks into five runs, and never relinquished the lead in a 10-5 defeat of Stanford in the final contest of the three-game series. Brennan Metzger, Kirk Singer and Jonathan Jones all had solo home runs for the Dirtbags.
