The NCAA announced the field for the Regional Championship tournaments today and two Big West clubs were selected to compete in the West Regional May 6-8. UC Davis and UC Irvine will join 22 squads and three individuals in the competition for coveted slots at the NCAA Championship in mid May.

The 11th-seeded Aggies received the Big West's automatic bid into the regional by virtue of a first place finish at the Conference Championship a week ago. The club is led by Alice Kim, who was ranked in the top 100 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings for most of the season, Chelsea Stelzmiller and Amy Simanton. Stelzmiller and Simanton battled for medalist honors at the Big West Championship before Stelzmiller won it on the third playoff hole. In addition, both Kim and Stelzmiller received at-large berths as individuals in last season's regional fieldThis will mark the first NCAA appearance for UC Davis as a member of Division I.

UCI received an at-large invitation to the NCAA West Regional, its sixth consecutive appearance at the tournament. The 17th-seeded Anteaters are led by Hillary Packard, Lalita Patipaksiri and Mariko Makabe. Makabe is coming off a seventh-place tie at the Big West Championship, her best result at the annual league tournament. Sitting at #48 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings, UCI finished third at the Big West Championship and finished fourth at last year's regional tournament on its way to the national championship competition.
