Cal Poly Sweeps Saturday Foes at Louisville Slugger Classic

Junior lefthander Anna Cahn matched a season high with nine strikeouts and the Cal Poly softball team swatted six doubles as the Mustangs opened play at the Stanford-hosted Louisville Slugger Classic on Saturday morning with 7-4 victory against Santa Clara. Cal Poly later completed the sweep as junior catcher Stephanie Correia's eighth-inning sacrifice fly scored freshman shortstop Trista Thomas to help the Mustangs past Princeton, 7-6.

Northridge Splits Saturday Twinbill with Bakersfield

The Cal State Northridge softball team (14-16) split a Saturday doubleheader at Cal State Bakersfield Saturday afternoon. Behind Hannah Fraijo's dominant performance in the circle, the Matadors won game one, 2-0. In game two, Northridge jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then saw CSUB score seven runs in the last three innings to take a 7-3 victory.

Early Deficit Sinks Titans Against No. 24 Louisville

Louisville's Alicja Wolny finished 1-for-2 with three RBI while Melissa Roth drove in two more to help lead the No. 24 Cardinals to a 6-2 win over host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday afternoon in the fourth day of play at the 2010 Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field.
