Pacific Hosts New Mexico State In BracketBusters Game On ESPNU

Pacific will represent the Big West in one of 11 televised BracketBusters games, hosting New Mexico State of the Western Athletic Conference on Saturday, February 20.  The game will tip at 7:00 p.m. (PST) on ESPNU.

It will be the second time that the Tigers and Aggies have met in BracketBusters.  The two schools played each other the first time in a non-televised matchup, with New Mexico State winning 79-69 in overtime on February 18, 2006 at the Spanos Center.

Pacific is appearing in a televised BracketBusters game for the second time in the event's existence.  Before a sellout crowd of 6,150 at the Spanos Center, the Tigers defeated UTEP in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN on February 19, 2005.

The eighth annual BracketBusters event, a two-day men's college basketball extravaganza pitting potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other Feb. 19-20, will feature 11 nationally televised games - on either ESPN2 or ESPNU - selected from a pool of 98 teams.

For the fifth straight year, ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network, will televise five BracketBusters games while ESPN2 will televise six contests.  The 11 BracketBusters matchups will be announced today on ESPNU at 3:30 p.m. (PST).

BracketBusters, named because of the success of the teams in NCAA Tournament play over the years, will provide the televised teams an opportunity to play other top non-conference opponents three weeks before Selection Sunday.  Teams participating this season in BracketBusters have produced 89 appearances in the last six NCAA Tournaments.
