CP's Kline, UCSB's May Claim First Weekly Swim Honors of 2010

Repeat winners claimed the first swim weekly honors of 2010 as Cal Poly's Peter Kline and UC Santa Barbara's Anne Marie May took home the accolades.

Kline, who hails from from Fresno, Calif., put forth an outstanding effort for the Mustangs at the USA Swimming Grand Prix. The junior was sixth in the A Final of the 400 IM (3:51.57), fifth in the A final of the 200 back (1:46.57), swam the leadoff leg in 400 free relay, which finished second (3:03.93), swam the final leg on 800 free relay team, which finished first (6:44.16) and placed fifth in the 200 IM (1:50.21). Kline also set a school record in the 400 IM, an event in which he swam against Olympic goal medalist Michael Phelps.

May, a native Carmel, Calif., put up several excellent performances in a dual meet against USC two weekends ago. The senior had two individual first place finishes against the Trojans, touching the wall before her competition in the 50 free (23.59) and 100 free (51.31). She also had splits on the first place 200 free relay and second place 200 medley relay.
