Cal Poly Sweeps First Swimming Weekly Honors of New Season
A pair of Cal Poly athletes claimed the first weekly honors of the 2009-10 swimming season as Peter Kline and Angie Haven were honored for their recent performances.
Kline, a junior from Fresno, Calif., won four events at the Malibu Invitational last weekend. He took home top honors in the 100 back (51.26), 200 back (1:51.48), 200 IM (1:54.21) and 400 IM (4:03.21), while finishing second in the 100 free (46.92).
Haven, a freshman from Monrovia, Calif., had an impressive day at the Malibu Invitational with six trips to the top of the awards podium. She won the 50 free (23.77), 100 breast (1:03.59), 200 breast (2:18.72), 100 fly (55.74), 200 IM (2:04.19) and 400 IM (4:30.04). In addition, Haven’s victories in the 100 and 200 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM were school records, the most impressive being her 100 breast time that broke an old mark that had stood since 1979.
