Head Coach Paul Stumpf - UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Barbara head coach Paul Stumpf is sitting one away from career win No. 100.  In his 11th season at the helm of the Gauchos, Stumpf owns a record of 99-77-24 (.555).  His first shot at No. 100 resulted in a 2-0 loss to Santa Clara on Sunday.  He tries again on Friday at Nevada.  Stumpf would become only the third coach to reach 100 victories while coaching in the Big West.  Cal Poly’s Alex Crozier leads all league coaches with 148 victories and Pacific’s Keith Coleman is second with 126.

Long Beach State Set For Showdown
Long Beach State is gearing up for the highest profile opponent to ever visit George Allen Field when No. 3 UCLA waltzes into town on Sunday.  The 49ers are coming off of a season-opening 2-0 victory against Fresno State.  Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia, owner of the third-best all-time winning percentage (.642) in Big West history with a record of 60-31-11, has the 49ers perched at No. 3 in the NSCAA West Region rankings this week.

Cal Poly Receives Early Test
Cal Poly is not exactly taking the easy way into the 2009 campaign.  The Mustangs will unveil a new state-of-the-art scoreboard and videoboard when No. 2 Stanford visits Alex G. Spanos Stadium on Friday.  Cal Poly then hops on a plane and travels to face Utah on Sunday.

Ives Poised To Join Top 10 In Career Assists
UC Santa Barbara senior forward Genelle Ives is the Big West active career goals (22), assists (17) and points (61) leader in 2009.  The 2008 Big West Offensive Player of the Year scored nine goals and added seven assists for the Big West Tournament champion Gauchos, which went on to compete in the NCAA Tournament.  Ives is one assist away from moving into the Big West top 10.

Trio Nets First Career Goals For Northridge Victory
Three Cal State Northridge players found the back of the net for the first time in their careers to give the Matadors a 3-1 road win versus San Diego State on Sunday.  Heidi Farran, Niki Connolly and Sonia Espitia tallied scores as the Matadors posted a 1-1 week.

UC Irvine Picks Up Solid Win At Arizona
UC Irvine returned from a road trip against two Pac-10 opponents 1-1, finishing up the jaunt to the Grand Canyon State with a 2-1 win against Arizona on Sunday.  It marked the first victory against a Pac-10 opponent for the Anteaters since defeating Oregon State 5-1 in 1998.  Freshman Mar Rodriguez punched in the winning goal in the 69th minute as she rebounded in her initial shot.

Bullock Climbs 49er Scoring Chart
Junior Lindsay Bullock netted her 16th career goal in Sunday’s 2-0 triumph over Fresno State.  It tied her for sixth on the LBSU all-time goals chart.  The midfielder ranks second among active Big West players with her 16 goals.

Mexican National Team Descends On Titan Stadium
Cal State Fullerton is hosting the Under Armour Tourney this weekend at Titan Stadium.  In addition to entertaining St. John’s on Friday, the Titans battle the Mexican National Team on Sunday.  The game counts as an exhibition.

UC Davis Pelts Opponents With Shots
UC Davis took the most shots of any Big West team in a game last week.  The Aggies notched 21 shots against northern California rival Sacramento State en route to a 1-1 double overtime tie on Sunday.  Samantha Faber scored the lone Aggie goal on one of her seven shots for the game.

Big West teams play 12 of the 16 games on this week’s schedule at home.  Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, UC Riverside and Pacific each host a pair of games.
