Follow Big West Live on Twitter to get an inside look at select Big West events!

8/24/2009

The Big West Conference will debut a new Twitter project this weekend in the form of Big West Live, a Twitter feed specifically designed to give fans an augmented look at select Big West events.  Bringing near-instantaneous photos, commentary, and updates to the Internet, Big West Live is the first feed of its kind - a supplemental stream information for those not in attendance.  Moving beyond the scores and stats, Big West Live will deliver the "color" of Big West events.  It will also allow fans to opt in to the experience - those fans who are following other Big West Twitter accounts will not receive the volume of information shared on Big West Live.

The first two Big West Live events will take place this weekend, covering three nationally-ranked teams in the process.  Big West Live bows on Saturday, August 29 with the Long Beach State-Texas women's volleyball match at 7:00 p.m. PT.  The No. 23-ranked 49ers play host to perennial power Texas, currently the No. 2 team in the nation.  On Sunday, August 30, Big West Live will broadcast from George Allen Field, as three-time defending Big West champion Long Beach State hosts No. 5 UCLA.

Fans can follow along in two ways:

1.  On the Big West Live Twitter page (http://twitter.com/BigWestLive).  No account necessary, but updates will not be automatic.

2.  On your own Twitter account.  Simply type “follow BigWestLive” as your Twitter update.  Updates will then be sent directly to your account.  At the end of the event, you can type “leave BigWestLive” to stop following.

If you want to join in on the discussion, either reply to us on Twitter (@BigWestLive) or add our hashtag (#BWLive) to your tweets!

Stay tuned to This Week in the Big West, the one-stop listing of all home contests across the conference for further Big West Live events.

Led by the BigWestSports feed, Big West Twitter feeds allow for real-time delivery of breaking news, stories, video and photos to fans.  The Big West Conference also maintains fifteen other accounts to provide fans with more in-depth information about the sports they enjoy the most.  Twitter is a free social networking service.
