UCSB Alum Katy Freeman Wins Gold at the World University Games

On Saturday, the final day of the World University Games swim competition, UC Santa Barbara alum, Katy Freeman, helped the United States women's 400-meter medley relay team to a gold medal. The team recorded a time of 4:01.90, beating out second-place Italy by 0.85 seconds.
Freeman swam the breaststroke leg of the relay and posted a split of 1:05.83. The relay marked her third appearance in an event final during the meet. She took fifth in the 200 breast last Thursday, touching the wall in 2:26.97, and last Tuesday, Freeman took sixth in the 100 breast. She finished in 1:08.89.
Head swim coach Gregg Wilson accompanied Freeman on the trip to Serbia. Wilson is served as an assistant for the women's swim team.
