Gauchos Split With No. 5/4 UCLA

The UC Santa Barbara (14-12) softball team came back after a mercy rule loss to No. 5/4 UCLA (25-4) and defeated the Bruins, 7-2, to earn a split during a nonconference doubleheader at Easton Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

No. 24 Cal Poly Sweeps Doubleheader from Santa Clara

Sophomore lefthander Anna Cahn tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts during the nightcap and junior first baseman Krysten Cary swatted a three-run first-inning homer during each end of the No. 24 Cal Poly softball team’s Tuesday doubleheader sweep of Santa Clara as the Mustangs completed the non-conference portion of their 2009 schedule with a 10-7 victory in game No. 1 and a 9-1, five-inning triumph in game No. 2 at Bob Janssen Field.

No. 23 Fresno State Sweeps UC Davis

No. 23 Fresno State swept UC Davis Tuesday night in a non-conference doubleheader at Bulldog Diamond. The Aggies fell 3-0 in the first game while suffering a 2-1 loss in eight innings in the second game. Bianca Castillo drove in the lone Aggie run in the top of the eighth of game two. UC Davis dropped to 15-14 on the year.
