Second Annual Big West SAAC Coin Drive Produces Unprecedented Results 3/6/2009

The numbers are in from the second annual Big West SAAC coin drive and the nine conference institutions went above and beyond their goal for the project for charity.

The coin drive, which ran during the month of February, raised an unbelievable $14,672.69, easily exceeding the goal of $10,000 the SAAC wished to raise and topping the $8,241.39 that the inaugural coin drive, led by UC Davis, raised a year ago.

The overall winner was Pacific which raised $2,735.35 for its charity, the St. Joseph's Medical Foundation Breast Cancer Research. With half of each school's total proceeds going to the winning charity, a total of $8,703.99 will go to St. Joseph's to aid in the fight against breast cancer. The remaining eight Big West institutions will donate the other half of their money to their respective charities of choice.
