Coach Kevin Bromley’s men’s basketball team picked up their first two conference wins of the year last week behind the stellar play of Big West Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week Lorenzo Keeler.  The Mustangs ran away with a 76-60 victory at Pacific and edged UC Davis, 77-75.  In their lone game this week, Cal Poly will host Cal State Northridge on Saturday, January 31.  The contest will be televised on Fox Sports Net Prime Ticket beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT.

The Mustang women’s hoops team sits tied with Pacific for third in the Big West, behind UC Riverside and league-leading UC Santa Barbara.  Coach Faith Mimnaugh’s team swept last week’s home games, 68-58 over Pacific and 64-60 over UC Davis.  Senior Lisa McBride lead the way, averaging 18.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg on her way to Big West Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors.  The Mustangs travel to Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday, January 27 and then head to Northridge on Saturday, January 31 to face the Matadors.  Catch the Northridge game on BigWest.TV beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The No. 75 Cal Poly women’s tennis started the season off right, rolling at Santa Clara, 6-1 on Saturday.  The juniors led the way, behind the doubles play of Brittany Blalock and Steffi Wong and singles play of Suzie Matzenauer.  Coach Hugh Bream’s squad will return home to open Big West play against the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m.
