UC Irvine and Pacific Swimmers Claim Men's and Women's Athlete of the Week Honors, Respectively
UC Irvine and Pacific claimed their first men's and women's Athlete of the Week awards of the season, respectively, as Randall Tom of UCI and Jenny Lewis of Pacific were honored for their efforts last week.
Tom, a senior from Wailuku, Hawaii, put in quite the performance at the Nike Cup for the Anteaters. He won three individual titles over the three-day event, taking home top honors in the 200 IM (1:47.78), 100 fly (46.48) and 200 fly (1:44.57). Tom also swam the leadoff leg of all UC Irvine relays, swimming the 100 free (44.35), 50 free (20.29), 100 back (48.41), 50 back (22.56) and 200 free (1:38.55). He was named the Outstanding Male Swimmer of the meet for his efforts.
Lewis, a senior from Hesperia, Calif., also took part in the Nike Cup and delivered solid results. She swam three individual events in the 50 free (23.12), 100 free (51.02) and100 back (56.82), while also taking part in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
In addition, Lewis tied her career-best time in the 50 free, finishing first out of 152 swimmers. That time also lands her atop the Big West season top times list. Lewis' time in the 100 Free is also tops in the conference to this point.
