The Big West women’s volleyball race is coming down to the wire with two weeks remaining in the regular season, and all the action is on BigWest.TV! Just two-and-a-half games separate the top four teams in the standings, making every match count. While volleyball season approaches its end, the 2008-09 men’s and women’s basketball seasons tip off this Friday, November 14. As a special for fans, Big West basketball broadcasts will be free of charge for the month of November.
The week starts off with a bang on Wednesday, November 12 when league-leading
Long Beach
State (10-2 in conference) takes on second-place UC Irvine (9-3) at The Walter Pyramid. The 49ers are riding a seven-match winning streak since the Anteaters handed them their second conference loss of the season on October 16. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.

State will play their second match of the week on Thursday, November 13 when they host UC Riverside (3-9), while defending league champion Cal Poly (8-4) travels to
Santa Barbara to take on the Guachos (6-6). Both Thursday night matches are set for 7:00 p.m.
The first taste of Big West basketball action is on Friday, November 14 with a trio of men’s games and one women’s game on the schedule. On the men’s side, pre-season favorites Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara see their first action when the Matadors host Cal Lutheran (7:05 p.m.) and the Gauchos face Cal State L.A. (7:00 p.m.). Cal Poly men’s basketball will also tip off their season at 7:00 p.m. with Arkansas-Littlerock. On the women’s side, Cal State Fullerton welcomes
Santa Clara to Titan Gym at 7:00 p.m.
Also on the Friday schedule is a pair of women’s volleyball matches. Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge head north to face UC Davis and Pacific, respectively. A revenge factor is in play, as the
Southern California schools both lost to UC Davis while defeating Pacific. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 15 is all volleyball, all night, with all four matches set to start at 7:00 p.m. Along the central coast, Cal Poly will host UC Riverside while UC Santa Barbara welcomes UC Irvine. The
Northern California schools will swap opponents from Friday night, with UC Davis facing Cal State Northridge and Pacific taking on Cal State Fullerton.
