BigWest.TV Schedule for November 3-9, 2008

11/5/2008

Preview the 2008 Big West Women’s Soccer Tournament with head coaches Mauricio Ingrassia and Paul Stumpf in interviews now on BigWest.TV. The Big West Women’s Soccer Tournament kicks off on Thursday, November 6 when top-seeded Long Beach State hosts No. 4 seed Pacific at 2:00 p.m. PT. The second semi-final match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. from UC Santa Barbara’s Harder Stadium, when No. 2 seed UCSB faces No. 3 Cal Poly. The Big West Tournament Championship is scheduled for Sunday, November 9 at 1:00 p.m. at a site to be determined.

The Long Beach State 49ers (13-4-3 overall) have won at least a share of the Big West regular season title for the past three years, and finished conference play undefeated with a 7-0-1 record. They will face the upstart Pacific Tigers (10-7-1, 4-3-1), who were picked to finish sixth in the conference. Find out what head coach Mauricio Ingrassia has to say about his team’s season so far and what he feels will be the keys to Thursday’s match-up with the Tigers.

Picked to win the conference title by one point in the pre-season poll, UC Santa Barbara saw a Gaucho resurgence in 2008 after UCSB ended an injury-plagued 2007 season in fifth place. This season, the Gauchos finished the regular season at 12-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play. UCSB will face 2007 Big West Tournament finalist Cal Poly (10-9-0, 5-3-0). Hear from coach Paul Stumpf on his team’s return to form and the challenges they will face hosting the ever-dangerous Mustangs.
