Get ready for the 2008-09 Big West men’s and women’s basketball seasons by tuning into BigWest.TV for Big West Basketball Media Day on Wednesday, October 29. In its fourth year of Basketball Media Day coverage, BigWest.TV will air LIVE interviews with the head coaches and student-athletes from each of the Big West’s eighteen men’s and women’s basketball teams. The entire broadcast will be free of charge.
Hosted by Rick Mielke, Media Day will be the first opportunity for the head coaches and players to speak about the upcoming season. Hear from men’s basketball coach Bob Burton, whose Cal State Fullerton Titans are the defending Big West Tournament champions, as well as Bob Williams and Bobby Braswell, the head coaches of 2007-08 regular season co-league champions UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge. Find out how UC Santa Barbara’s new women’s coach,
Lindsay Gottlieb , plans to defend the Gauchos’ regular-season and conference-tournament titles in her first year, while the Big West’s other new addition, Molly Goodenbour, speaks about taking the reins at UC Irvine. UC Davis’ Sandy Simpson will be on hand to discuss how his team plans to take the title from the Gauchos after finishing as the runner-up to UCSB in the 2008 Big West Basketball Tournament.
In addition to the head coaches, a student-athlete from each institution will also appear on BigWest.TV. Players scheduled to appear include Cal State Fullerton’s Josh Akognon (2008 Big West Men’s Basketball Tournament MVP), Long Beach State’s Donovan Morris (2007-08 All-Big West First Team), UC Santa Barbara’s Jenna Green (two-time All-Big West First Team), and UC Riverside’s Kemie Nikele (2006-07 Big West Player of the Year). Athlete appearances are subject to change.
Later in the day, all eighteen interviews will be available for on-demand viewing on BigWest.TV.
