UC Riverside senior Tessa Lennala (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral HS) played a part in all three Highlander scores and led her team to its first conference victory of 2008, garnering Big West Women's Soccer Player of the Week accolades.
The forward scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist as the Highlanders won at Cal State Fullerton, 3-2, on Sunday.
The goals were her eighth and ninth of the season, tying her for the Big West lead. Lennala also scored nine goals in 2007.
Lennala tied the match at 1-1 with her first goal on a header at the 37:34 mark. She assisted on the Highlanders' second goal for a 2-1 lead. With the score tied 2-2, Lennala provided the clinching tally with less than three minutes remaining as she won a 1v1 battle with the Fullerton goalkeeper.
Lennala took a game-high six shots, including three on frame. She became the second UCR women's soccer player with two five-point games in her career - the other taking place on September 21, 2007 against Fresno State.
