Catch up on all the news out of
San Luis Obispo with the latest press conferences from the Cal Poly Mustangs. Each week, Mustang coaches and student-athletes give their perspectives on their seasons and preview upcoming events.
Cross country coach Mark Conover, whose No. 23 Mustangs finished fifth at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Oregon, gives his thoughts on the season to date and dealing with the loss of Cal Poly icon Phillip Reid to graduation. Helping to ease the transition is junior college transfer Daniel Gonia, who earned his second Big West Athlete of the Week award this week.
Men’s soccer coach Paul Holocher recaps his team’s split of their first two Big West Conference matches and previews this week’s contests. The Mustangs host UC Riverside on Wednesday, October 8 and travel to
Fullerton to take on the Titans on Saturday, October 11. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. PT, while the match at
Fullerton will be available live on BigWest.TV.
The Cal Poly women’s soccer team is off to a fast conference start, defeating Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside last week. Coach
Alex Crozier talks about his team’s 2-0 conference record and previews this weekend’s home contest against Cal State Northridge. Coach Crozier will be looking for a milestone on Sunday, October 12, as the match will be his team’s first opportunity to net their coach his 200th career coaching victory. The Mustangs and Matadors battle on BigWest.TV beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Women’s soccer isn’t the only Mustang team off to a fast start. The No. 22 women’s volleyball team is undefeated through four conference matches and will face off against the perennially tough
Long Beach
State 49ers on Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. Coach
Jon Stevenson previews the contest, which will be the Mustangs’ only match this week. As with all women’s volleyball conference matches, the contest will be available on BigWest.TV.
