The UC Davis women's golf team fought through a second straight day of weather-induced delays, completing the third round of the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships in a tie for 22nd place. The Aggies began the day by completing the second round before playing the third round. Eight teams did not finish the third round due to darkness.
UC Davis has an aggregate score of 952 through 54 holes of the championship at the 6,424-yard University of New Mexico Championship Course. USC and UCLA are tied for first at 16-over par, but were included among the eight-team contingent unable to finish out round three. The Aggies are tied with South Carolina and two strokes ahead of Arizona.
High winds postponed Wednesday's second round and the Aggies returned to the course to complete that round on Thursday morning. No sooner did the teams start the third round in the early afternoon when storms came in and stopped play for over an hour.
Bryana Gregory had a 76 to lead the Aggies in the third round. Alice Kim shot a 79 and is the top Aggie golfer as she sits in a tie for 34th on the individual leaderboard. Chelsea Stelzmiller and Sydney Roughton posted 80s to round out the team total of 315.
The Aggies will attempt to make up ground as the final round of the 24-team tournament takes place on Friday. UC Davis is competing in the NCAA Championship in just its first year as a Big West member.
