A wide open and cloudy Big West men's tennis race may offer some clarity by week's end as Pacific and UC Davis make trips down to the Central Coast to face off with UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.

Pacific currently leads the standings at 2-0, one-half game ahead of Cal Poly, which won the only Big West match it played on March 2 against UC Santa Barbara.  The Tigers and Mustangs clash on Saturday at the Mustang Courts.  Pacific then travels further down the coast to battle UCSB on Sunday.  The Tigers take a four-match win streak into the Cal Poly contest.  The Gauchos have won six of their last seven while the Mustangs are 2-1 on their current season-long six-match homestand.  UC Davis (8-8, 1-1) has an opportunity to be a major factor in the race with a successful showing at UCSB and CP.

The men's tennis slate also involves a batch of non-conference matchups.  UC Irvine hosts Hawai'i and UNLV on consecutive days, while UCSB hosts No. 53 Fresno State on Friday prior to its two conference showdowns.  UC Riverside also gets into the action with a road trip to face Nevada on Sunday.

Women's tennis features a slew of Big West matchups.  Nine of the 12 contests on this week's schedule pit conference teams against one another.  Long Beach State is closing in on its second regular season title in three years after moving to 5-0 with last week's victory over previous league undefeated Cal State Northridge.  The 49ers also journey to the Central Coast, battling UC Santa Barbara on Thursday and Cal Poly on Friday.  UC Irvine, the defending regular season champion, is still in the hunt but will need LBSU to falter in addition experiencing its own success on this weekend's trip to UC Davis and Pacific.
