Playing without the Big West’s second-leading scorer in Josh Akognon, the Cal State Fullerton Titans found other ways to put the ball in the basket, propelling themselves to a 72-61 victory over visiting UC Riverside. Marcio Lassiter came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points, while Junior Russell matched his career-high with 16 points. The Titans shot 50% from the field and made 20 of 25 free throws to improve their record to 5-2 in conference play and 12-6 overall.
The Highlanders were led by senior Larry Cunningham’s 14 points, while sophomore Sean Cunningham chipped in 13 and freshman Jalonni Diggs had 10 points and 5 assists. UC Riverside drops to 1-5 in conference play and 4-13 overall despite shooting 50% from the field in the second half.
