Donnelly, Bragg Earn Big West Swimmer Of The Week Honors
UC Davis' Danny Donnelly and Pacific's Ja-Neil Bragg picked up the first Big West Swimmer of the Week honors for the new calendar year. This is Bragg's second award of the 2007-08 season, while Donnelly is a first-time honoree.
Over the weekend, Donnelly registered four first-place individual awards and two relay top finishes. In the tri-meet with Cal Poly and Pacific, the Aggie won the 100 and 200 butterfly with times of 50.31 and 1:52.31. He also swam a time of 51.15 in the 100 backstroke to reach the top of the podium. He joined with fellow teammates to win the medley relay on Saturday and then again Sunday against UC San Diego. Against the Tritons, Donnelly earned his fourth individual title of the weekend with a first-place victory in the 100 back with a time of 51.14.
Bragg led the Tigers to decisive victories over UC Davis and Cal Poly as she took home both individual events that she competed in. She swam a time of 1:50.88 in the 200 freestyle and 2:06.55 in the 200 individual medley. The senior from Manteca, Calif., also picked up a first-place win in the 200 medley relay and finished second in the 400 free relay.
