UC Irvine Tied For 16th Place After Two Rounds Of NCAA Championship

UC Irvine shot a 314 and fell into a tie for 16th place following the second day of the 2007 NCAA Women's Golf Championships at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Anteaters were in seventh place after shooting a 303 in Tuesday's first round. They are tied with Michigan State with a two-round total of 617.

After 36 holes of play on the 6,351-yard, par-72 course, Duke leads the 24-team field with an 11-over 587. The Blue Devils had the best round of the day with a 1-under 287. UCLA is in second place (594) and Purdue third (597).

UCI junior Selanee' Henderson, who was the tournament leader after shooting a 3-under 69 in the first round, carded an 80 Wednesday to drop into a tie for 14th place at 5-over 149. Freshman Patty Chawalitmetha shot a 79 and is tied for 63rd overall at 11-over 155. Junior Kim Lorenzana has a 36-hole total of 156 and is in a tie for 74th place after a round of 77. Junior Jane Chin fired a 78 and is tied for 103rd (161). Freshman Henna Cho is in 111th place with a total of 163 (84).

Long Beach State junior Kay Hoey, participating as an individual, followed up her first round 79 with a 77 today. She is tied for 74th place with a 12-over 156.

The 72-hole championship continues on Thursday and runs through Friday. UC Irvine will tee off on the 10th hole at 9:00 a.m. (PT).
