UC Irvine Women's Golf Team In Fifth After First Day Of NCAA West Regional

The UC Irvine women's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the NCAA West Regional at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club Thursday. The Anteaters shot a 295 and are eight strokes off the lead.

Freshman Patty Chawalitmetha led the Anteaters, shooting a 1-over par 72 and is tied for ninth place on the individual leaderboard. Junior Selanee' Henderson carded a 2-over 73 and is tied for 17th place, while junior Kim Lorenzana is 23rd after firing a 74. Junior Jane Chin shot a 76 and freshman Henna Cho a 77 to round out the UCI scoring.

Stanford is the team leader after one round with a 3-over 287. Host Brigham Young and Oklahoma State are tied for second place at 291, while Arizona State is fourth (294).

Long Beach State junior Kay Hoey, competing as an individual, shot a 6-over 77 and is tied for 45th place.

The tournament continues with 18 holes Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.
