The Big West Conference was well represented in the final two meets of the year as runners from all nine schools competed in the West Regional Meet, while three individuals earned the chance to take part in the NCAA Championships.

The final competition of the NCAA cross country season was completed today as UC Santa Barbara's Scott Smith led a trio of Big West finishers at the NCAA Championships. The races were hosted by Indiana State University and held at LaVern Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Three Big West individual athletes are headed to the NCAA Cross Country Championships next Monday as Cal Poly's Joe Gatel and UC Santa Barbara's Scott Smith and Crystal Reed qualified for the national meet.

With a week off to prepare themselves, the Big West cross country squads are geared up for the final step towards the NCAA Championships as they take part in the NCAA West Region Meet this weekend. The regional championship is being held in the Pacific Northwest this season as the University of Oregon hosts the competition at Springfield Country...

Cal Poly was the recipient of the most 2009 Big West Cross Country awards as the Mustangs claimed three of the six major honors.
