The 2009 Big West Women's Soccer Tournament takes place on Thursday, November 5 and Sunday, November 8, featuring the top four teams in the final regular season standings.  The champion earns the Big West's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.  In Thursday's semifinal action, No. 3 seed UC Santa Barbara defeated No. 2 seed Cal State Northridge 2-1 while No. 1 seed Cal Poly downed No. 4 seed UC Irvine 2-0.

Cal Poly hosts UC Santa Barbara in the championship match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Big West initially held a postseason tournament in 1996 and 1997, but did not conduct one from 1998-2002.  The tournament eventually returned in 2003 and this year's edition will be the ninth overall in the conference's history.
