Women's Basketball Pre-tournament Teleconferences & Awards

The Big West Conference Menís and Womenís Basketball Tournament returns to the Anaheim Convention Center Arena for the second consecutive year. The tournament will run Wednesday, March 6 through Saturday, March 9. Eight of the ten menís teams and eight of the nine womenís teams will qualify for this yearís championship. Seedings for the tournament are determined by the final regular season standings in conference play. Game times and the order of games will be determined on March 3 once the seedings have been finalized.

Requests for media credentials to the Big West Tournament must be made by the request form provided by the conference office or in writing on official letterhead of the respective media outlet. Priority will be given to: 1) certified media regularly covering Big West teams; 2) certified media filing from the scene; 3) certified media not filing from the scene.

Tournament credentials will not be mailed out. Instead, media will pick their credentials up at the media registration desk located at the arena. Parking passes will be mailed. TOURNEY INFORMATION

The Big West Conference Menís and Womenís Basketball Tournament will once again be in Southern California this year, running March 6-9, 2002 in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. Located in the heart of Anaheim, the arena sits directly across the street from Disneyland, Disneyís California Adventure and Downtown Disney.

The ACC has hosted the Big West Tournament more than any other arena, a record seven times. Along with the 2001 tournament, the arena hosted the championship from 1977 to 1982.

Eight of the ten menís teams and eight of the nine womenís teams will qualify for this yearís tournament. The seedings for the tournament will be determined by the final regular season standings in conference play. Game times and the order of games will be determined on March 3 once the seedings have been finalized. It will be the 27th season of the menís basketball tournament and the 19th running of the womenís tournament.

    GAME TICKETS

    All-session tickets for the 2002 Big West Menís and Womenís Basketball Tournament may be purchased by calling the Anaheim Convention Center box office at (714) 765-8980 or by mail order. You can also purchase tickets through your schoolís athletic ticket office. Premium All-Session tickets, good for all 14 games of the Big West Tournament, are available for only $60. Donít miss out on your chance to save $80 off face value ticket prices.

    To ensure seating in your schoolís rooting section, your all-session ticket order must be received by February 12, 2002. The size and location of each schoolís rooting section in the 7,500-seat arena are based on the number of orders received for each school by the priority deadline date.

    Single session tickets will go on sale February 20, 2002 after the all-session priority deadline. Tickets for all womenís games are general admission and range from $10 to $15. The menís sessions have reserved seating with prices ranging from $15 to $25.

    STUDENT TICKETS

    Students from Big West Conference member institutions may purchase All-Session tickets for $20. Single-session tickets will be available beginning February 20 at a cost of $7. To purchase a student ticket, contact your athletic departmentís box office. A Student Identification Card is required to purchase and use each student ticket.
