2002 NCAA TOURNAMENT RESULTS
UC SANTA BARBARA FALLS TO UCLA IN NCAA FIRST ROUND
The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team was defeated 4-0 by UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships on Saturday, May 11.
The Gauchos finished the season with a 14-10 record.
UCSB lost the doubles point, falling at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions, and then dropped three singles matches at No. 3, 4 and 6.
The match was clinched when UCSB's Mike Placek lost to the Bruins' Jean Julien Rojer 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

LONG BEACH STATE DEFEATED BY PEPPERDINE IN NCAA FIRST ROUND
The Long Beach State women's tennis team lost a tough 4-1 decision to Pepperdine in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 10.
The 49ers ended their season with an impressive 21-3 record.
Long Beach State opened the match by losing the doubles point at the No. 2 and 3 spots.
In singles, the 49ers lost three of the four completed matches but led in the two others that were abandoned. LBSU's Anastasia Dvornikova and Laura Thomas led their matchups when the contest ended at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively. Meanwhile, Alena Dvornikova toppled the Waves' Veronica Koksova at No. 3 singles for LBSU's only point of the match.
The 21 victories represents the second-most in school history for Long Beach State. The program record of 22 was set last year.
