San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Robert Owens netted a career-high 22 points to
lead the San Jose State Spartans to a 59-55 victory over the Pacific Tigers in
a non-conference tilt.
Owens buried 6-of-8 from long range in the win for San Jose State (2-2), while
C.J. Webster finished with a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Adrian Oliver got into the mix as well, chipping in 10 points for the
Spartans.
Michael Nunnally notched 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the way
for Pacific (4-1), while Lavar Neufville added 15 points in the losing effort.
Pacific held the Spartans to just 39.3 percent shooting from the field during
the opening frame and took a 30-26 halftime lead.
But the Spartans battled back in the second stanza, hitting 43.3 percent of
their attempts from the floor to earn the four-point win. After trailing for
most of the second half, San Jose State closed out the game with a 9-0 run for
the victory.
San Jose State outrebounded the Tigers by a 33-27 margin in the win,
including 10 offensive rebounds in the second half.
