Santa Barbara, CA (Sports Network) - Cecil Brown scored a game-high 16 points
in leading the UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos to a 65-62 victory over the Pepperdine
Waves in a non-conference matchup from the Thunderdome.
Brown finished the game 6-of-14 from the field, while Joe See added 13 points
for the Gauchos (2-2).
Glen McGowan paced the Waves (1-4) in defeat, with 14 points and seven boards.
Alex Acker turned in 12 points, while Terrance Johnson chipped in 11 points
off the bench. Shaun Davis added 10 points and dished out six assists, but
only made 4-of-12 shots from the field.
The Gauchos hit on 7-of-16 three-pointers in the first half, opening up a
31-25 lead at the break.
In the second stanza, UC-Santa Barbara shot a solid 48.3 percent from the
field, as it held on for a three-point victory.
The Gauchos made 11-of-25 shots from long distance, while Pepperdine converted
just 6-of-16 from behind the arc.
