Long Beach State 63, UC Santa Barbara 62 Long Beach, CA (Sports Network) - Louis Darby banked in a three-pointer with
0.1 seconds remaining to lift the Long Beach State 49ers to a 63-62 victory
over the UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos in a Big West Conference thriller.

Kevin Roberts scored 18 points and Darby added 17 points in the victory for
Long Beach State (3-7, 1-0 BWC), which had lost five of its last six contests
heading into this tilt. Antoine Jackson contributed 10 points off the bench
for the 49ers.

Casey Cook scored 15 points and Branduinn Fullove contributed 10 points in
defeat for UC-Santa Barbara (6-4, 0-1), which had won five of its last six
games entering tonight's contest.

UC-Santa Barbara controlled the tempo early on, as it shot 50 percent from the
floor in the first and 7-of-8 from the foul line en route to a 36-26 lead at
intermission.

The 49ers were completely dominant over the final 20 minutes, as they
connected on 60 percent of their field goal attempts and held the Gauchos to
37 percent to record the come-from-behind victory.

Although UC-Santa Barbara did hold a 40-22 rebounding advantage in the
contest, it committed 21 costly turnovers.
