Loyola Marymount 68, Cal Poly 67 Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Sherman Gay scored a team-high 24 points
and blocked a last second shot while leading the Loyola Marymount Lions to a
68-67 victory over the Cal Poly-SLO Mustangs in a non-league contest.

Keith Kincade added 15 points for Loyola Marymount (5-0), while Chris Ayer
turned in 13 points and eight boards.

Varnie Dennis netted a game-high 28 points and collected 10 boards for Cal
Poly-SLO (2-2), while Shane Schilling added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Although the Lions went on a 9-4 run to close out the first half, Cal Poly-SLO
went into the break with a 39-38 advantage.

Loyola Marymount used a 12-7 run midway through the second stanza en route to
the one-point victory.

Neither team shot exceptionally well in the contest, as the Lions hit on just
41.9 percent from the floor, while the Mustangs connected on just 41.7 percent
from the field.
