Utah State 57, Cal Poly 43 Logan, Utah (Sports Network) - Mark Brown scored 14 points and Nate Harris
added 13 to lead No. 24 Utah State over Big West rival Cal Poly, 57-43, at the
D.G. Smith Spectrum.

The Aggies (18-1, 10-0 Big West) were placed in the national rankings Monday
for the first time in 33 years. They have won 15 straight since a loss at Utah
on December 3.

Cal Poly (8-10, 3-7) was led by Shane Schilling's game-high 17 points. Varnie
Dennis added 13 points for the Mustangs, who had a two-game win streak
snapped.

Utah State fell behind briefly in the second half when a pair of free throws
by Schilling gave the Mustangs a 41-40 lead with 12:00 remaining, but Cal Poly
only scored two more points after that.

The Aggies sealed the game with an incredible 13-0 run, vaulting to a 53-41
advantage on Cardell Butler's foul shots inside the 5:00 mark.

The Mustangs missed 10 of their last 11 shots.

Utah State opened the game with a 6-0 burst, but that would be its largest
advantage of the first half.

The Aggies matched that lead inside the 12:00 mark when Chris Huber's three
capped a 6-2 spurt to make it 19-13, but Cal Poly responded by scoring seven
of the next eight points to pull even at 20-20 on Nick Enzweiller's layup.

Utah State then controlled the first half's remaining five minutes, ending the
period with a 10-4 run to carry a 30-24 lead into the locker room.

The Aggies opened the second half with a 7-2 burst and grabbed an 11-point
lead on Butler's three-pointer just two minutes in.

But Cal Poly responded with nine unanswered, pulling within 37-35 on Dennis'
jumper less than four minutes later.

Game Notes: The Aggies are the first Big West team to make the poll since 1994, when New
Mexico State was 22nd...The last time Utah State was listed in an AP poll was
March 9, 1971, when it was 16th...The Aggies own a commanding 13-1 lead in the
all-time series, including a 69-63 win on January 10 in San Luis Obispo.
