San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Varnie Dennis posted a double-double
with game highs of 30 points and 10 rebounds while leading the Mustangs of Cal
Poly-SLO to a resounding 87-63 victory against the Idaho Vandals in Big West
Conference action from Mott Gymnasium.

Shane Schilling added 18 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Kameron
Gray dropped in 17 points and pulled down six boards as well in the win for
the Mustangs (6-5, 1-2 Big West), snapping a two-game slide.

The Vandals (3-8, 0-2) were led by Dandrick Jones who tallied 17 points on 5-
of-10 shooting from the field, but was also guilty of five of the team's nine
turnovers on the night.

The Mustangs held Idaho scoreless for quite some time in the first half,
eventually taking a 20-4 lead at the 12:43 mark of the period. Unfortunately
for Cal Poly the Vandals refused to give up easily and managed to battle back
to a one-point deficit at the break, 35-34.

As great a comeback as it was for Idaho in the first half, the squad fell
apart in the second period, shooting only 27.6 percent from the field,
including 1-of-12 beyond the arc. The Mustangs converted 18-of-24
opportunities at the free-throw line in the second period to secure the 24-
point win.

Cal Poly turned the ball over just five times the entire night and won the
battle of the boards rather easily, 44-31.

The Vandals finished the contest shooting just 33.3 percent from the field
and 7-of-27 on the perimeter overall.
