Pacific 78, Cal State Northridge 66
Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Eli Nolan scored 21 points and Mike Preston
added 19 and a game-high 16 rebounds as Pacific defeated Cal State-Northridge
78-66 in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference Tournament.
Pacific (20-9) now advances to the semifinals and will face the winner of
Idaho and Utah State.
Mike Hahn chipped in with 13 points for the Tigers, who will be looking to
reach the tournament championship game for the second straight year.
Ian Boylan paced the Matadors (12-16) with 17 points and Markus Carr added 15
in the school's first ever Big West Conference Tournament appearance. Joe
Frazier finished with 12 as the Matadors lost for the first time in five
games.
Cal State-Northridge managed a 36-34 lead at intermission following a close
first half.
However, Pacific claimed a 41-39 lead with 15:52 to play, then increased its
lead to 59-45 following an 18-6 spurt. The Matadors couldn't rally and
eventually lost by 12.

Utah State 61, Idaho 41
Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jeremy Vague scored 14 points to lead the Utah
State Aggies to a 61-41 victory over the Idaho Vandals in the quarterfinals of
the Big West Conference Tournament. Utah State (22-6) will take on Pacific in
the semifinals on Friday.
Desmond Penigar added 12 points for the Aggies, who won their second straight
tournament championship a year ago with a victory over Pacific in the title
game.
Matt Gerschefske and Rodney Hilaire each netted 10 points in defeat for Idaho
(9-19), which is now 0-4 all-time in Big West Tournament games.
Utah State controlled the tempo in the first half and held a 24-15 advantage
at the break.
Idaho, which managed only eight points over the first 8:11 of the second half,
was never able to make a significant run over the final 20 minutes.
The Aggies shot 55.3 percent from the floor in the tilt and held the Vandals
to 31.9 percent shooting. Also key for Utah State was that it racked up 15
assists while committing only nine turnovers.
Utah State is attempting to become the 15th top seed to win the Big West
Tournament.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jerry Green scored 23 points to lead UC-Irvine
to a 72-65 win over Long Beach State in quarterfinal action of the Big West
Conference Tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center. The
second-seeded
Anteaters (21-9) move on to face UC-Santa Barbara in the semifinals.
Tony Darden scored 22 points to lead Long Beach State (13-17), while Travis
Reed registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Ron Johnson
also added 13 points in the loss.
Adam Parada scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his seventh
double-double of the season, while Jordan Harris finished with 15 points.
Stanislav Zuzak finished with 10 points in the victory.
UC-Irvine held a small lead for most of the first half and went into the
locker room with a 33-27 edge.
The Anteaters continued to push the advantage in the second half, but Long
Beach State closed to within three points at 66-63 with 1:08 remaining before
UC-Irvine ended the game on a 6-2 spurt to hang on for the win.
The 49ers shot 41 percent from the field, and were just 6-of-13 from the free
throw line, while the Anteaters connected on 45.5 percent of their attempts
from the floor and were 19-of-26 from the charity stripe.

Barbara to a 74-65 victory over Cal Poly-SLO in the quarterfinal round of the
Big West Conference Tournament. Third-seeded UC-Santa Barbara (18-10) will
take on UC-Irvine on Friday in the semifinals.
Branduinn Fullove added 13 points and nine rebounds in the win for UC-Santa
Barbara, which holds a 6-18 all-time record in Big West Tournament games.
David Henry posted 15 points and Brandon Beeson added 11 points in defeat for
Cal Poly (15-12).
The Gauchos scored 10 of the game's first 14 points en route to a 30-26 edge
at intermission.
UC-Santa Barbara held a double-digit advantage for most of the final period,
as Cal Poly was never able to pull even.
In addition to a 45-28 rebounding advantage in the contest, the Gauchos also
held the Mustangs to 38.3 percent shooting from the floor. Free throw shooting
was another key to the victory, as UC-Santa Barbara outscored Cal Poly 27-7
from the line.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Tony Brown poured in 29 points to lead the top-
seeded Utah State Aggies to a 69-65 victory over the fourth seeded Pacific
Tigers in semifinal action of the Big West Conference Tournament at the
Anaheim Convention Center. The Aggies (23-6) advance to Saturday's
championship game to take on UC-Santa Barbara.
Maurice McLemore scored 19 points to lead Pacific (20-10) while Demetrius
Jackson added 18 points. Mike Preston registered a double-double with 16
points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.
Desmond Penigar tallied 20 points for the Aggies and Toraino Johnson finished
with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Neither team could establish much of a lead in the first half and Utah State
went into the locker room with a 41-39 advantage.
The Aggies could never pull away as the pesky Tigers hung around all night,
managing to deadlock the game at 65-65 in the final minute before Utah State
scored the final four points of the contest to prevail.
The game featured 14 ties and 22 lead changes.
Utah State outrebounded Pacific 33-28, but shot just 39.6 percent from the
field, compared with 45.7 percent shooting for the Tigers. The Aggies were 21-
of-26 from the free-throw line, while Pacific connected on 18-of-21 from the
charity stripe.
This was a rematch of last year's title game, which the Aggies won by 12
points, 50-38. The 38 points scored by the Tigers were the fewest ever in the
tournament's championship game.

Santa Barbara Gauchos to a 66-61 victory over the UC-Irvine Anteaters in the
semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament. UC-Santa Barbara (19-10)
returns to the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday for a championship bout
against the Utah State Aggies.
Branduinn Fullove scored 13 points to help pace the Gauchos in the win, while
Mark Hull added 11 points. UC-Santa Barbara shot 50 percent from the field and
scored 17 points off 13 Anteater turnovers.
UC-Irvine (20-10) was led in the loss by Adam Parada's 18-point, seven-rebound

assists for the Anteaters. UC-Irvine connected on 47.8 percent of its field
goals and earned a 28-25 advantage on the boards.

took a 34-27 lead with just 2:03 to play in the half. UC-Santa Barbara could
close the gap only slightly by halftime, trailing 36-31 at the break.
The Gauchos opened the second half with an 11-5 run that finally gave them the
lead at 42-40 with 14:02 to play. UC-Irvine deadlocked the game at 57-57 with
2:41 left in regulation, but UC-Santa Barbara outscored the Anteaters 9-4 down
the stretch for the win.
