The 33rd Annual Big West Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament will be held Wednesday, March
12 through Saturday, March 15 at The Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center. The UC Santa Barbara men's basketball team
claimed the No. 1 seed in the tournament. This is the first time since 2003 that the Gauchos enter the conference tournament as
the top seed.
The Gauchos, which shared the regular season co-championship with Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton at 12-4,
got the nod as the No. 1 seed based on their combined 3-1 record against the Matadors and Titans. The Matadors nailed down
the second seed by virtue of a win earlier in the season against UCSB.
It's the first regular season crown for UCSB since the 2002-03 season. For the Titans, their co-championship is the program's
first since sharing the crown with Long Beach State in 1975-76. It's the first title - regular or shared - for the Matadors since they
joined the Big West in 2001-02.
The last tri-championship in the Big West occurred in 1996-97 when former members Nevada, Utah State and New Mexico
State all finished 12-4 in the Big West Western Division.
This is the eighth consecutive year that the Big West Basketball Tournament will be held at the ACC Arena. Located directly
across the street from the basketball action is the Disneyland Resort and the Downtown Disney District. The Tourney Fan Fest will
be held in conjunction with the 2008 tournament. Fan Fest activities will take place on Thursday and Friday of tournament week

District.
