Junior Amy Simanton fell in a playoff and the UC Davis Aggies concluded their season at the NCAA West Regional in Erie, Colorado.

Junior Amy Simanton and freshman Blair Lewis each fired 2-under 70's during Friday's second round as No. 23 UC Davis charged up the leaderboard and to within striking distance for a coveted top-eight finish at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf West Regional.

Shooting just 2-over 74 on Thursday, UC Davis’ Demi Runas marked two birdies to lead the Aggies on day one of the three-day competition at the NCAA Division I West Regional in Erie, Colo.

Pacific’s Alex Edfort has been named the 2012 Big West Men’s Golfer of the Year, as selected by the nine league head coaches. Long Beach State collected the other two top awards with Xander Schauffele earning Big West Freshman of the Year and Mickey Yokoi garnering Big West Coach of the Year.

Three-time defending Big West Women’s Golf champion and No. 23-ranked UC Davis will compete at the NCAA Division I West Regional in Erie, Colo. this week as the No. 8 seed.
