RENO, Nev. - Junior Ryan Scoma and sophomore Ty Kelly each hit grand slams in the second inning, sophomore Kyle Mihaylo hit a three-run blast in the ninth and UC Davis scored a season-high 18 runs off 17 hits to defeat Nevada, 18-8, in a non-conference baseball game at Peccole Park Wednesday afternoon.

The win is the second straight for the Aggies and improves their overall record to 8-7 while the Wolfpack end a two-game winning streak and are now 6-7 overall.

Scoma and Kelly hit grand slams in the second inning after the second out was recorded to highlight a nine-run inning for the Aggies. Mihaylo started the scoring with an RBI to bring home senior Kevin James. Kelly hit his grand slam to open the flood gates and Scoma followed after the three batters in front of him reached base on a hit by pitch, single and a walk. James scored twice in the inning.

Scoma finished with four hits in five at bats to go with four runs scored, two doubles and a season-best six RBIs. He is the first Aggie to drive in five or more runs this season and takes over the team lead with his batting average of .475.

Kelly's grand slam was his first home run as an Aggie and helped set his season-high for RBIs. Mihaylo drove in two runs before hitting the three-run shot in the ninth inning to bring his RBI total to a season-best five. He also had a double, two hits and three runs scored to complete his day.

Senior Matt Dempsey drove home two runs and scored two more off three hits. James also scored four runs and had two hits. Junior Jake Jefferies accounted for the other Aggie RBI off a single in the second inning to improve his team-leading hitting streak to 10 games.

The Wolfpack scored two in the third, another in the fourth and two more in the fifth to cut the lead to 10-7. Jason Rodriguez opened the fourth inning with a two-run homer to left field to highlight the Wolfpack's biggest scoring threat.

Sophomore Andy Suiter relieved Aggie starter Bryan Evans to start the sixth inning and gave up only one unearned run and three hits in 3.1 innings of work. Evans, a junior, struck out six and was credited with his second win of the season. Stephen Bautista gave up seven runs in the loss for Nevada.

UC Davis tacked on three more runs to lead off the sixth inning on a two-run double from Scoma and an RBI double from Mihaylo. They would add two more runs in the eighth inning off a two-run double from Demspey and three in the ninth off Mihaylo's blast to run away with the win.

The Aggies host the first game of a four-game series with Santa Clara at Dobbins Stadium on Friday at 2 p.m. The Saturday doubleheader will be played in Santa Clara with the final game returning to Davis on Sunday.
