SAN FRANCISCO HOLDS ON FOR ONE-RUN
VICTORY OVER AGGIES

DAVIS, Calif. - San Francisco scored four runs in
the final two innings and held on after allowing the
tying run to reach third base in the bottom of the
ninth inning to earn a 7-6 come-from-behind victory
over UC Davis in a nonconference baseball game
at Dobbins Stadium Wednesday afternoon. Aggie
catcher Jake Jefferies led all players with four hits,
two doubles and four RBIs.

The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the
Aggies and drops them to 6-4 overall while the
Dons are now 4-6.

Jefferies continues his hot hitting for UC Davis and
now owns a batting average of .526 after his 4-for-5
day. Sophomore Ty Kelly also continues to hit well
as he had two hits and drove in a run while scoring
another. Senior Matt Dempsey went 2-for-4 on the
day.

Senior Ryan Royster and Grant Hirneise drove in
the other two Aggie runs. Freshman Tom Briner got
the loss.

For the Dons, Connor Bernatz hit a two-run homer
and five other players had RBIs in the victory. Alex
Kalogrides picked up his first win of the season and
Garrett Luippold earned his first save by striking out
the final Aggie batter.

UC Davis scored a run in the first inning off a single
from Jefferies. They added three more runs in the
third inning to jump ahead 4-0. Jefferies doubled
home two of those runs and scored the third off an
RBI single from Hirneise.

The Dons got on the board the next inning off a solo
home run from Mitchell Bialosky. They added two
more runs the following inning to cut the deficit to a
single run, 4-3. Two of those runs came off
Bernatz's two-run shot to left field.

San Francisco took the lead in the eighth inning
with two more runs and padded it's lead to three
with another two runs in the ninth. The Aggies
started the bottom half of the ninth with a walk to
pinch hitter Justin Schafer and a double from Ryan
Royster. Kelly brought home Schafer with a
fielder's choice and Jefferies drove home his fourth
run with a single the next at bat. The Aggies had
the tying run at third base, but Luippold fanned an
Aggie pinch hitter to secure the victory.

UC Davis returns home tomorrow for a game with
Portland at 2 p.m. The Pilots will play Utah Valley
State at Dobbins Stadium earlier in the day. That
game will begin at 10 a.m.
