Nestled conveniently in the San Joaquin Valley between
San Francisco and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Pacific’s
main campus, with its expansive lawns and brick and ivy
architecture, is highly regarded a one of the most picturesque
college campuses in the West.
Founded by pioneer Methodist clergy in 1851, the University
of the Pacific is California's oldest chartered institution
of higher education. Today, the University of the
Pacific includes 11 schools and colleges on three different
campuses. The 170-acre New England-style main campus
is located in Stockton, and enrolls nearly 4,000 undergraduate,
graduate, and professional students. Pacific's
McGeorge School of Law enrolls 1,100 students on its
Sacramento campus, while the San Francisco-based Dental
School enrolls 450.
The University of the Pacific's mission is to provide a
superior, student-centered learning environment integrating
liberal arts and professional education and preparing
individuals for lasting achievement and responsible leadership
in their careers and communities.
The only private school in the Big West Conference,
Pacific offers a diversity of programs that would normally
be associated with a much larger university. Personal at-tention
and small class sizes have become Pacific trademarks.
