BIG WEST BASKETBALL SHOOTOUT
Returns For 2010
        
     The Big West Basketball ShootOut will return to Big West campuses this winter.  It will be the third consecutive year the ShootOut will be on campus.  Last year, 663 teams competed across the nine campuses for a chance at the $5,000 grand prize.  The shooting competition had teams of two shoot from six different spots on the floor over a 30-second time frame.  Each campus winner will win a trip to Anaheim to compete in the ShootOut Finals March 10-13 during the Big West Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament.

    ANAHEIM, CA – A pair of Long Beach State University students, Alfonso Reyes and Clarissa Diaz, took home the $5,000 grand prize on Saturday night during the finals of the 2009 Big West Basketball ShootOut sponsored by U.S. Bank and Jack In The Box.  The Long Beach State students defeated a duo from Cal State Fullerton, 15-14, in the final round.  Seven other campus champions, one from each Big West Conference member institution, had competed on Friday night at halftime during the men’s basketball tournament semifinal games.

    The Big West Basketball ShootOut is part of an annual campus tour that features a basketball shooting competition for students who attend Big West Conference member institutions.  The shooting competition had teams of two shoot from six different spots on the floor over a 30-second time frame.  Throughout the months of January, February and March, 663 teams competed over the nine Big West campuses to earn a spot in the finals in Anaheim.
