2013-14 NABC All-District Teams
UC Santa Barbara junior Alan Williams gained national recognition for his exploits during the 2013-14 season, which included being the nation’s rebounding leader and setting the conference record for Player of the Week awards in one season.

Williams, a 6-7 center, carved out a spot on the Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American Team. In addition to being named the 2013-14 Big West Player of the Year, Williams received recognition on the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District IX Team and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 9 First Team.
The USBWA All-District IX Team honored Williams among a group of players from the Pac-12 Conference and San Diego State. Williams was joined on the team by Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson of UCLA, Jordan Bachynski and Jahii Carson of Arizona State, Aaron Gordon and Nick Johnson of Arizona, Xavier Thames of San Diego State, C.J. Wilcox of Washington, and Joseph Young of Oregon.
The Phoenix, Ariz. native is also one of 30 finalists for the 2014 Lou Henson Award, presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball. As a finalist for the award, Williams also helps comprise the 2013-14 Lou Henson All-America Team as announced by CollegeInsider.com.
The winner of the 2014 Henson award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 4 in Dallas, site of the Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four.
The list of accomplishments for Williams stretched long and wide over the course of the season.
• Led the nation with 11.5 rebounds per game.
• Became first player to top the Big West in scoring (21.3 ppg) and rebounding since Christian Maraker of Pacific in 2005-06.
• Earned a record Big West single-season record six Player of the Week honors.
• Tied the Big West record for most career Player of the Week citations with eight.
• Posted a conference-high 16 double-doubles, the most by a Gaucho player in 23 years.
• Equalled two UCSB single-game records with 39 points and eight blocked shots in a win over South Dakota State.
• Became first Gaucho to record a 20-20 in more than 24 years when he had 27 points and 20 rebounds in a win over UC Davis.
In addition to the first team designation for Williams, Long Beach State junior Mike Caffey and Hawai‘i sophomore Isaac Fotu were recognized on the NABC All-District 9 Second Team.
